The history of the legendary Louis Vuitton Keepall

The Louis Vuitton Keepall is far more than just a travel bag – it is a significant piece of design and travel history.

The birth in 1930

The Keepall was introduced by the house of Louis Vuitton in 1930. At that time, travel was changing fundamentally: heavy and rigid trunks were increasingly replaced by lighter and more flexible luggage, which were better suited for automobiles, trains, and more modern forms of travel.

The Keepall combined generous storage space with a soft, foldable construction and the elegant appearance of traditional Louis Vuitton luggage.

The name says it all

The name "Keepall" can be figuratively translated as "holds everything." The number 50 denotes the approximate width of the bag of 50 centimeters – a particularly popular size for weekend and short trips.

The iconic Monogram Canvas

The famous Louis Vuitton monogram was already created in 1896 by Georges Vuitton. It was intended to make the brand's identity unmistakable and at the same time protect products from counterfeits.

In combination with the resistant coated canvas and the natural Vachetta leather details, the Keepall developed into an international symbol for upscale travel culture.

The origin of the Speedy

The famous Louis Vuitton Speedy was created later as a more compact version of the Keepall developed for everyday use. Thus, the Keepall is considered the design origin of one of the most famous handbag models in fashion history.

Today, a vintage Keepall stands for timeless aesthetics, high-quality workmanship, and sustainable luxury. Its natural patina tells of its history and makes every specimen a unique individual item.

Shipping

Shipping is carefully packaged, insured, and tracked. Due to the value of the goods, a sufficiently adequate transport insurance is chosen.
